Today’s episode is a little different.
Ros takes you behind the scenes of Art for the Heart - what it is, why it began, how it has evolved over the years, and the thinking behind its newest chapter.
She is joined by Bec from Short and Sweet Art, a Canberra-based artist, long-time Art for the Heart member, and much-loved part of the support team inside the community.
Together, Ros and Bec chat about what artists really need when they are trying to stay connected to their art, why community matters so much, and how Art for the Heart has grown from online art workshops into a warm, supportive membership for artists who want creativity, accountability, encouragement and practical support.
If you’ve ever felt like making art can be lonely, overwhelming, or hard to prioritise, this episode is a beautiful reminder that you don’t have to do it alone.

Trusting the Creative Process as an Artist with Abbie White
Tuesday Jun 16, 2026
Tuesday Jun 16, 2026
In this episode of Paint Rest Repeat, I’m joined by abstract painter Abbie White for a beautiful conversation about art, grief, resilience, family, and learning to trust your own creative voice.
Abbie paints on raw canvas using acrylics to create soft, dreamy, watercolour-like works that feel calm, nostalgic and deeply emotional. In this conversation, she shares how painting became a way to process the loss of both her parents, how her mum’s influence continues to shape her work, and how her creative practice helped her move through a challenging season in her family life.
We also talk about art fairs, rejection, entering prizes, connecting with collectors, and why artists need to spend less time looking outward and more time looking inward.
If you’ve ever felt pressure to rush your style, compare yourself to other artists, or question whether your work is “enough”, this conversation is a gentle reminder to trust your own path.

Making Art for Process, Product and Possibility with Jac P
Tuesday Jun 02, 2026
Tuesday Jun 02, 2026
What happens when art begins as a place to breathe, but slowly becomes something other people want to buy, collect, and display?
In Episode 117 of Paint Rest Repeat, Ros Gervay is joined by intuitive artist Jac P who shares how she came back to art as an adult through curiosity, wellbeing, and courage — not with a big polished plan, but by following the next step.
Together, Ros and Jac explore the difference between making art for the process and making art for the product, as well as self-doubt, comparison, commissions, galleries, community, and staying connected to the reason you create in the first place.
This episode is for any artist who has ever wondered whether their art needs to be more strategic, more sellable, or more serious before they are allowed to claim it.

Marketing Your Art as an Introvert with Leah Mariani
Tuesday May 19, 2026
Tuesday May 19, 2026
What if marketing your art didn’t have to mean becoming louder, pushier or more extroverted than you actually are?
In this episode, I’m joined by artist Leah Mariani for a conversation about marketing your art as an introvert. Leah shares her experience of building creative confidence, finding sustainable ways to be visible, and the artist residency in the French countryside that became a major turning point in her work.
We talk about what it means to create and share your art in a way that honours your energy, why environment can be so powerful for artists, and how giving yourself space can open up entirely new directions in your practice.
If you’ve ever felt like you’re “too quiet” to market your art, this episode is a gentle reminder that you don’t need to become someone else to be seen.

In this episode of Paint Rest Repeat, I’m joined by contemporary Australian artist Korynn Morrison for an honest conversation about how to find your unique art style, develop your creative voice, and trust the art process when self-doubt, comparison or overthinking get in the way. Korynn shares the story behind her layered “excavated landscapes”, how identity, motherhood, postpartum depression and major life change shaped her work, and why finding your style as an artist is not something you can logic your way into - it happens by making the work, staying open to experimentation, and following what keeps calling you back.

Are you doing all the things — the courses, the podcasts, the books — and still feeling stuck? In this episode, I'm unpacking the learning trap: the point in every artist's journey where more information stops moving you forward. I share the three stages of artist growth, why most stuck artists are actually in Stage 3 without realising it, and four practical micro-actions to help you stop consuming and start refining.
If you've ever felt capable of more but unable to access it consistently — this one's for you.

“If more people saw my art, I’d sell more.” It’s one of the most common beliefs artists hold and it sounds completely logical. In this episode, I challenge the idea that more visibility equals more art sales, and talk about why many artists struggle to sell their work even when they’re posting regularly and showing up online. If you’re an artist trying to sell your art and feeling frustrated by inconsistent sales, this episode offers a new way to think about visibility and focus.
